About the Children’s Research Institute
The Children’s Research Institute is a collaborative network for pediatric research at UNC to centralize efforts across campus. Along with having a virtual presence across schools, centers, campus, and institutions, we now have a physical location in the newly renovated Mary Ellen Jones building. Originally built in 1978, the Mary Ellen Jones building underwent a complete renovation to update the building with new, state-of-the-art, laboratories and office space to support biomedical research at UNC. The CRI will be housed on the fourth floor, in close proximity to researchers in neuroscience, thrombosis, biomedical engineering and genomics. With over 22,450 square feet of space available to the Department of Pediatrics, we cannot wait to see what breakthrough discoveries are waiting for us!
Our Mission
Our mission is to support and develop researchers focused on pediatric disease working together to advance children’s health in North Carolina and beyond.
What We Do
- Provide a collaborative platform for researchers across UNC to pursue funding in evolving Pediatric Team Science partnerships.
- Support junior physician-scientist development and retention to ensure our young researchers have ample opportunities to be successful innovative researchers.
- Promote pediatric clinical trial research infrastructure and opportunities through our Pediatric Clinical Research Unit (Peds CRU).
- Host a monthly CRI seminar to promote interaction and learning among pediatric research scientists.
